Red Wings shoot for club mark as Oilers visit Motor City

02/23/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Detroit Red Wings will attempt to tie a franchise record for consecutive home victories tonight against an Edmonton Oilers club that has had its share of problems on the road.

Detroit has ripped off 13 straight wins at Joe Louis Arena and owns a dominant 22-3-3 home record for the season. The Red Wings have won 14 in a row as the host only once in their storied history, from January 21-March 25, 1965.

The Central Division co-leaders kept up their winning ways in the Motor City with Wednesday's 4-2 decision over Chicago. Henrik Zetterberg's two third- period goals were the difference as Detroit earned its fourth victory in its last five overall games.

Pavel Datsyuk added a goal and an assist for the Red Wings and Dominik Hasek made 26 saves.

Zetterberg has been on an incredible scoring tear as of late. The All-Star wing has amassed eight goals and six assists during a five-game scoring streak and racked up 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in nine games during the month of February.

Datsyuk, whose goal on Wednesday was the 100th of his career, has eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) over the last three contests.

The Red Wings, who haven't lost at Joe Louis Arena since a 3-2 setback to Ottawa on December 12, enter tonight's play tied with Nashville for first place in both the Central Division and Western Conference with 84 points.

Edmonton comes in seven points behind Calgary for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. The Oilers haven't helped their postseason hopes during this current seven-game road trip, as the team dropped their first four outings of the swing before Thursday's shutout victory at Columbus.

Shawn Horcroff had two goals and an assist while Dwayne Roloson stopped all 28 shots he faced to lead Edmonton to a 4-0 triumph at Nationwide Arena.

Ryan Smyth finished with a goal and two assists for the Oilers, while Ladislav Smid rounded out the scoring with his first career tally.

Edmonton is just 11-15-4 on the road this season and has lost 13 of its last 16 regular-season visits to Joe Louis Arena. However, the Oilers did win twice in Detroit when they upset the top-seeded Red Wings in six games during last year's Western Conference quarterfinals.

Edmonton has also taken two of the three meetings between the teams so far in 2006-07.
